You may laugh, but I actually developed a loving bond with my new Canon Elura 2MC. Our relationship began innocently as I unwrapped and slipped the beautiful camcorder beneath the palm of my right hand. It was love at first touch! Although not the smallest camcorder I have ever dated, this camcorder was definitely petite and tiny.
Like any new relationship, I wanted to test the strength of our bond. At first my wife protested, but she finally allowed me to take my new "friend" with us on vacation. As I caressed and held the camcorder during the trip, I could occassionally glance over and catch a look of jealousy from my wife. The Elura responded effortlessly to my touch and filmed our entire vacation flawlessly. I was impressed with her....err...I mean...it's ability to travel around in my jacket from place to place. Obviously, I wanted to keep this beauty close to my heart. Pitter, patter, pitter, patter.
When I asked my new love what her initials MC stood for, she blushed and announced, "...oh that...it stands for memory card. My older sister Elura 2 wants to get an MC job, but unfortunately her model is outdated." My Elura 2MC appeared to beam with joy at describing her MC feature. "Well, basically," she stated "my MC feature is an 8mb card that allows you to take and store up to 50 still photos."
Already impressed and enamored by my new found love, I decided to try out her zoom capabilities. She quickly convinced me to ignore her useless 40x digital zoom and instead focus on her crisp clear 10x optical zoom. "People must realize that optical zoom is what counts, not digital zoom, " Elura stated. Indeed, to say I was impressed with her knowledge is an understatement.
There comes a point in every relationship where one must truly put it to the test and see if it really delivers. Sported with the usual transitions and digital effects, I quickly focused on the more impressive features of my new love. She comes equipped with a progressive scan CCD and an RGB filter. After watching the playback of my vacation, I was impressed with how realistic and cinematic the film looked. I literally had the impression that I was watching a movie on television. The picture was stable, crisp, and vivid. Did I mention that my Elura has a battery that just seems to go on and on and on. Oh Elura, why must you be so lovely!
My wife and I have since gone to counseling to deal with my unnatural obsession with Elura. Every once in a while I still manage to sneak my Elura into bed with me. Shhhhhh! Don't tell my wife!
