dissnshun's Full Review: Etymotic Research MicroProâ„¢ ER-4P Consumer Headp...
I am a true audiophile. There is nothing that I love more than powerful, crystal clear sound. Aside from these headphones, I own a Klipsch 4.2 surround sound system for the computer($350) and I have 2 Infiniti Kappa Perfect 12.1 ($350 each)subs in my car. I am mentioning these to you merely to give you the idea of what I consider to be good sound. I have tried dozens and dozens of headphones. I've tried the sony's and the bose. Nothing even comes close. My dad bought a pair of the bose headphones and about 2 months later, I bought my pair of ety's. He is so envious of them. Not only are they more portable than the bose, they sound better. I am a college student and I use these headphones while i walk around campus all the time. It is true about the cable, it does make some noise, but it's hardly noticeable at all. These headphones are also FAR cheaper than the bose headphones. My dad paid over $300 for the Bose Quiet Comfort II's while I only paid $180 for my Etymotic Er-4P's. These headphones can still be found for around $200 at http://www.earsonic.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ETY%2DER4P
I am not affiliated with that website in any way. I actually purchased mine on ebay. I found that website while helping a friend find a pair of ety's at a reasonable price instead of the retail of $330. Oh ya...one last thing, you can't use headphones with active noise cancellation (like the Bose) during airplane takeoff and landing. Since these headphones don't rely on active noise cancellation, the noise dampening feature of these headphones can be used at all times.
