| degenx83's Full Review: Koss TD-61 Headphones |
I love these things. I was debating between these, the Jensen JF25 and the JVC HA-G11 (my second pair). I decided to get these for a few reasons. I didn't like the way the Jensen ones looked and felt. They just felt way to flimsy for my liking, so those were taken out of the equation. As for the JVC ones, I decided not to get those because the sound just didn't work for me. The bass was decent at best and the sound just was lacking in volume. Plus, I needed a change, I already had a pair of those JVCs.
I like the TD-61 for a few reasons. First of all, the size is good (although they are on the slightly bigger side) but it may be this slightly larger size that make them so damn comfortable. The bass on these things is spectacular and the sound is clear and blocks out a good deal of outside noise. Plus, the rather large cups are great considering it's winter now and with the snow, and cold, they're great for keeping my ears warm.
The sound is clear. When you're listening to music, it doesn't have any of the sounds you'd hear with the cheaper headphones or earphones (that AM-FM static noise). Depending on your CD player or cassette player, all you'll hear is the music with almost no static whatsoever (listening to music on my stereo through my headphones, there is no static, just clear sound).
As for the comfort level, it's great. The most I usually use these headphones at a time is around one hour...two max. You really won't experience any pain from wearing these headphones. You might get sick of having something on your head, but that's about it. Another thing that I loved is the area where the headphones meet the top of your head. Koss did a good job here, this area is padded and is made of a synthetic leather material. Normally most people wouldn't mention this but I put gel on my hair and usually if that part of the headphones wouldn't have been padded, I'd have flat hair on that part of my head.
As for the negatives, there really aren't many. The biggest one is that moisture starts to form in your ear if you're wearing them for too long, but that could easily be fixed by just lifting the headphones off your ears.
Another small problem is that of the headphones slipping off your ear, but this can easily be fixed by adjusting the size.
