| skhong's Full Review: Koss TD-61 Headphones |
I purchased the Koss TD 61 for listening while I work. The current pair of headphones is a Radio Shack Optimus Nova 71. They are a $12 pair that actually sound great. But they are uncomfortable for more than 30 minutes.
So, I was at Target and noticed this pair. Plugging it into my laptop, and doing side by side tests with the Nova71, there is just no comparison. The Nova is far, far, far better in every way, except comfort.
The Koss had tight bass, but lacked fullness. In fact, the whole sound lacked fullness. It is almost like the speakers are pointing away from your ears. It seems to lack a lot in the low-mid to mid range sounds. The highs are not as crisp as they should be.
Overall, they sound like you are sitting in the middle of a box with sound going everywhere, but toward you.
Others have mentioned how durable they are, but I won't know, since these are going back.
Update: I ended up purchasing the Optimus Pro35 from Radio Shack (Koss KTX-PRO). See my seperate review:
