DefBringer's Full Review: Koss TD-80 Consumer Headphones
I've had my TD-80s for well over 2 1/2 years now. I bought them after hearing them at a local Border's. Border's (Book store) was using these as the headphones to listen to CDs. I expected them to cost a load of money, well over $75. How happy I was to learn the TD-80s only cost around $40! Compared to the other awful headphones in that price range, the TD-80s are amazing.
Sound quality: Excellent midrange, very good high-end frequency response, adequate bass. However, the bass is a bit boomy for my tastes and lacks the tight definition necessary to accurately reproduce instruments such as a bass guitar.
Still, all one needs to do is take a listen to any other sub-$50 headphone and realize what a steal these are.
Perhaps my biggest gripe with these headphones is the unnecessary pressure placed upon the ears. After 30-45 minutes my ears begin to hurt when wearing these headphones. This can be remedied somewhat by stretching the headband flat and thus allowing the TD-80s to accompany those of us who do not have heads the size of softballs.
