| zubrila's Full Review: Kenwood CD-324M |
Kenwood 324M was the third CD player I owned. First one was single disc SONY, second 25 disc changer Pioneer. Now it's Kenwood with 200 CD slots inside.Interesting that all these CD players cost me almost same amount of money. I paid $206 for Kenwood in ABC Warehouse plus got free wireless keyboard for easy title input from Kenwood by mail. Right now ABC sells 324M for $149 but probably free keyboard offer is over.
I adore my Kenwood. Now I don't have a problem with CD's,CD boxes,CD's without boxes,CD boxes without CD's spread all over the house. After loading all my and my wife's collections in this changer I just stacked all CD boxes in one big box and put it in garage. All handling of CD's is eliminated , which means less scratches, fingerprints, coffee spills ,etc.
If you planning buying mega storage CD player, it is very important to have text information of CD to be displayed (like disc title, track titles), otherwise you will have to remember all your CD's by numbers, which is not fun. My 25 discs PIONEER didn't have text information and it was a problem for about 2 months before I memorized all my CD's by numbers. KENWOOD has text information and even CD-TEXT support, but none of my CD's has CD-text( I think only SONY Music does it in its CD's ). It will take some time to enter all information, but it's worth it.Do it step by step, like loading 5 CD's a a time and storing all information.
Another great thing, in case if you have a spouse, the ability to sort CD's by music type ( 26 types) or have them in different user files ( up to 8 users). This is great function, especially if you like to play your discs in random mode. If it's Sunday and you play only classic you can play it in random mode without being afraid to scare your in-laws with 2PAC or Sepultura :) In my case I don't like what my wife likes to listen so we never cross even play music in random. Why do I like random? Because it helps to enjoy music with element of surprise.Remote control is OK, small and handy ,but kind of crowded with buttons.I really miss the ability to control volume from CD player remote,my SONY had this function and it was very convenient, you don't need to have two remotes in hands. Also KENWOOD is a little bit slow when you turn the power on,DISC DETECTION takes a while. There are many other functions you can play with like BEST SELECTION FILE,TIME OPERATION,etc. Also if you have a CD player in a car I would think twice before buying mega storage CD player, because it will be a big headache taking discs in and out.I would consider having a MD players in a car and at home, so you can record your favorite CD's on MD and listen it in a car with everything what CD gives you ( digital quality, skipping tracks, etc.)
