We bought this camcorder to catch the sweet little details of the birth of our daughter and her daily activities. I will say it takes wonderful pictures, but how good is that when it breaks down on you after a year? We had not changed tapes in this device more than 5 times and when I went to put a new tape in, it would not accept it. I thought maybe it was just being finicky, so I continued to try and make it take the tape. It started eating tapes left and right. It went from working one night, to not the next.
I was extremely upset as we had just had our son and I was unable to catch the first few months of his life. I called Samsung, called all the dealerships, etc. Everyone of them said it would cost me a minimum of $100.00 just to look at it, and then they would charge for repairs and whatever parts might be needed. After speaking with my husband over this, we made the choice to just buy a new camcorder. We recently purchased a Sony and it has been working like a charm.
My Samsung is now in our little girl's toy box. Quite an expensive toy if you ask me. You live and learn though. With our new Sony we have a warranty that will last 3 years and have been promised by the company that they stand by their products. Unlike Samsung.
I would not recommend this camcorder to anyone. It was a total waste of money.
