Pros: Nice sounding system, attractive display, easy to use
Cons: Don't install in a Jeep or other vehicle with a bumpy ride!! Skip City!
The Bottom Line: Great CD player, but not in a Jeep. It skips frequently going over even small bumps. Use in a smooth riding vehicle only and you'll be pleased with it.

| sue-ella's Full Review: Alpine CDA-7839 |
I put this in-dash model into my 1999 Jeep Wrangler about two years ago. While I was very pleased with the sound quality and appearance, it unfortunately skipped all the time when I hit even small bumps. This made it virtually unusable during my hour-long commute to and from work. I travel over interstate highways with a lot of potholes and bumps every day, and I ended up listening to the radio instead because I got tired of the constant skipping. I'm pretty sure this is mostly due to my having installed this Alpine into a Jeep with a stiff suspension. After researching Alpines a bit further on Jeep discussion lists online, I discovered that many Jeep owners in general tend to avoid Alpines because of this very problem. In a regular sedan vehicle this would be a wonderful CD player, and I would recommend it to those who own that type of vehicle. But SUV owners, be careful with this one.
