| jalaudio's Full Review: Pioneer TS-W253C Car Subwoofer |
Since the beginning of my car audio days, Pioneer has always made a very good sub for the poor car audiophiles. Being one of those for many years, I've grown up with Pioneer.(Yes, I've even owned one of those cheap free air subs from Wal Mart) I started with Pioneer and I can reassure you that you won't go wrong with these subs.
I have never actually owned a set of TS-W253C, but I have heard these subs in several sets of cars. There durability is almost unmatched in this price range, and I can guarantee they will sound better and hit harder than any sub in there class. Not only do they hit hard, but they hit deep, like 30 hz and down deep. I have owned and still own a set of the Pioneer IMPP's and they really stood the test of time, like 5 years of hard hitting action.
There is a difference between lower priced subs and subs such as JL Audio. Subs such as JL's take alot of power and just as much money to power them. With Pioneer's, you could compete in a DB Drag but I wouldn't recommend them for sound quality. There motor structure is just a little to loose to control incredibly accurate bass that is required in sound quality systems. That's why JL's cost so much, there magnets are huge for a reason. It takes that much extra power to move the motor structure to the same excursion. With a harder surfaced cone the sub delivers harder hitting bass, but it also gives it more control. Pioneer has improved on there design, less cubic space needed, and a harder but lighter cone for more of that umphhhh we so desire in our car. These subs are exactly what the poor working man needs more of and I give these subs a very proud to be poor 3.75 stars.
If you are a big fan of Pioneer, look into there Premier line, they not only look good, but they sound really good too. A noble investment indeed.
