Pros: Simply the BEST sub $2000.00 unit one can buy!
Cons: The only thing I can really pick on is the inability to key in name of different components for your setup. Other than that, there is NONE!!!

| kiandnora's Full Review: Sony STR-DE135 2 Channels Receiver |
I was in the market for a "Hi-End" receiver that will definitely be around for a while. I've checked several models out. They include:
- Onkyo TX-DS777 - Yamaha HTR-5150
- Pioneer VSX-D908S - Yamaha RX-V2095
I went to my local audio shops around town and listened and compared features that were most important to me. Things like the separation of surround sound or what most call the "Fidelity Effect". The purity of brass and string instruments described as "Tight" or "Crisp" during stereo listening. When I watch a movie, I like the voices of the main characters to come from the center directly to me, while all other background sound come from the appropriate speakers throughout the room. This effect distribution of proper sound is called Dolby Digital or 5.1 Channel Response. With the Sony STR-DA777ES, you get all of this plus the ability to fine tune/tweak each channel (speakers) to your personal preference. All of the other models was close until it came down to the range of fine tuning. Heat factor also came into consideration. All did well except the Pioneer model. It ran a bit too warm for comfort. As you may or may not know, heat is one of the biggest culprit in shortening the component's life. The clarity and depth of control is DEFINITELY BAR NONE.
