| wolfman224's Full Review: Sony STR-DE135 2 Channels Receiver |
the 777 is huge, there I said it, that is it's only drawback. I had to move things out of my hifi cabinet to make it fit. It weighs a ton too.
That over and done with, wow, there are so many connections as to dazzle even the most technical technoholic. Analog inputs, coaxial and optical digital inputs.
With 120 watts over its 6 channels it has enough power to drive most any speakers in the average home, it is packed with clever gizmos and neat features to make life easier.
The reciever supports Dolby Prologic, Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, as well as this it also features Sony's amazing 24bit sound field processor able to recreate several of Sony's movie theaters in your living room.
My speaker system consists of a somewhat lowly Cerwin Vega set up, not true hifi, but good for home theater, the 777 produced sound levels that were almost unbearable, image quality was superb and dynamics were incredible, everytime there was a thunderstorm on the TV my dogs ran for cover.
A neat feature is the inclusion of front panel inputs for an additional video device making it easier to copy tapes from a camcorder to a VCR
Finally there is an amazing touch panel LCD remote controller that can learn the control sets of any other device.
