Pros: Multiple home theater modes including Yamaha's exclusive DSP
Cons: The remote is a little unhandy, the letters and numbers are starting to fade ( less than two years of daily use)

I was looking for an up-grade to my stereo system to a home theater type of setup. I did my research for about a year comparing top end Pioneer systems, Sony, Yamaha, and most other top end systems. When it was finally time to make a choice, I took a few of MY CDs to the electronics store to compare systems. I have always been partial to Pioneer but after listening to the Yamaha I was sold. When I brought my system home I already had a set of BOSE AM-3 speakers with a subwoofer. I also purchased a set of Cerwin-Vega towers, along with a matching center speaker, last I picked up a Yamaha SW-45 70w subwoofer. The Reciever's instructions made the hook up very easy. The sound coming out of this system is just unbelievable. Playback of a DTS music DVD is better than anything I've heard just short of being there live. The price is moderate to low compared to some of the more exotic systems but ... to me the sound from this system cain't be beat
