| sentra's Full Review: Pioneer S-H151B-K Main / Stereo Speaker |
I purchased this pair of speakers over a year ago and they are still in top notch condition. They where the first speakers I bought for my home theater. When I first bought these I didn’t know much about speakers (still don’t know much more, lol), but I know I liked the price of them.
When I got into the store the sales clerk told me about all the high priced speakers (the ones that are as much as an old beat up car) and what they can do. I didn’t really know how to react, but I told him to show me the cheaper priced speakers with good quality. So he showed me several types and the Pioneer S-H151B-K was one of them. He played the speakers (They all sound the same to me) and I told him I would purchase them.
I brought the speaker’s home and hooked them up to my receiver. I listened to them with low volume and high volume (I felt like a little kid). I really couldn’t tell how any of those more expensive speakers would sound better. The sound from the genre R&B, Rap, New Country and Classical all sounded clear and non-distorted. Then I used some New Age CD’s and they all sounded clear.
Since I purchased the speakers they would only have a popping sound when the “Loudness” button on the receiver is on, the bass is turned up all the way and the volume is turned up enough to wake the dead. Now I am not the person to listen to the music really really loud. I like it when I can hear it through my house, but not outside of my house.
Actually I do know of one drawback the speakers have given me. When I listen to a song that has some low, long bass you can hear a “ummfff” type of sound coming out of the ported box. It sounds like the port is not stationed right with the box or the speakers aren’t capable with that low of a frequency. Whatever it is I have to turn down the volume a little to enjoy the music, but that type of sound is very rare in music.
Here is the information I have on the speakers and the box:
The Box is made out of – Colored Vinyl Laminated Wood
The Maximum Power the Speakers can handle is – 100 Watts
The Impedance is – 8 ohms
The speakers are – 6.5 inch 2-way bass reflex speakers
Well, to this day the speakers are still working like they are brand new and still sound clear. I highly recommend these speakers to anyone that wants dependable speakers. But I do also recommend getting some tweeters (little speakers) since these speakers give voices a deeper sound (just a little deeper).
