In the world of home audio, there is a plethora of brands for you to choose from and many times your choice will hinder on the size of your wallet. But if you're willing to go for the best in home audio and don't crave for those large, expensive, space-eating bohemoths of a system, then I recommend you to look at the Aiwa NSX-MA845. It doesn't run up the credit card bill at relatively low price of about $300, and the sound that eminates from those speakers and the sheer power of that bass is something to behold. Of all the mini-systems, Aiwa has the best sound and the best design ('cause really, who wants to listen to something that looks like Mork's Millenium Space Ship). It has a sleek silver design and the LCD display doesn't look like an import from Caesar's Palace. The Aiwa sound is unparalleled among the other wanna-be's (i.e. Sony, Phillips, and Panasonic, to name a few). I love bass (not the small mouth kind either)and in looking for a stereo, I listen to the quality of the bass. Aiwa, far and away, emits the most body-shaking, window-rattling bass. The other brands pale in comaprison and their bass sounds more like an artificial rumbling, rather than a pulsating pluck of that bass guitar. In addition, Aiwa adds a karoke option for those times you want to sing lead for Pearl Jam or those Dixie Chicks. Aiwa also features BBE (for clarity and treble), additional beats, and surround sound options. The only drawback, and its an important one, is that Aiwa's (in my experience) have been less than durable. I've had friends complain about problems with their systems two or three years afterwards. My Aiwa is about a year old and still sounds great, but there's always that chance. So...if you want the big stereo sound (with that body-moving bass) for a relatively low price, you should head on over to the Aiwa section, but beware...
