Any VCR That Holds Up In Our Home Is A Good Quality VCR!

Pros: High quality and handles a lot of use.
Cons: I haven't came across any as of yet.
The Bottom Line: I have had many different VCR's over the years and the Sony SLV-679HF VCR is by far the best I have ever purchased so far.

Epinion had some minor updates added on 5/9/01.
In our house the VCR is running from Morning till night on some days. Our VCR plays Blues Clues and Vegi tales in the morning, Star Wars and Pokemon in the Afternoon and the latest Drama, action or Suspense in the evening for my husband and my enjoyment!
We definately get a lot of use out of the many VCR's that we have purchased. We have found that renting videos has been an affordable entertainment for everyone in our family.
So, last year when our old VCR finally took its last breath, I went out on my search to find a new one. I knew that I had to find a VCR that was good enough quality to withhold all the use it would be getting at our house as well as finding one that was reasonable priced to fit into our budget.
I ended up purchasing the Sony SLV-679HF VCR. I paid $150 for it at Sears, which I felt was a fairly reasonable price considering the quality that I would be quaranteed with the Sony brand.
This Hi- Fi VCR plus, came with many wonderful features that convinced me that by purchasing this VCR, I was getting my moneys worth along with the quality that I needed to rely on.

•Video Heads- Double azimuth four heads
•Maximum recording/ Playback time- 8 hrs. in EP mode
•Fast forward and rewind time- Approx. 3 minutes
The Sony SLV-679HF VCR puts out a very crisp clean picture. Very rarely have I had to fix the tracking or adjust any other setting to make a video more clear.

•VHF 2 to 13 and UHF 14 to 69
•Antenna- 75-ohm antenna terminal for VHF/UHF
TIMERS
•clock- quartz locked
•Timer Indication- 12 hour cycle
•Timer Setting- 8 programs per month (max.)
•Power back up- Built in self charging capacitor and back up duration: up to 1 hour at a time.
Along with being a very nice looking Energy Saver VCR, I was sold. And now almost a year after purchasing this VCR, I have to say from experience, that this has been a great VCR. It still runs to this day like it is brand new. I have had many different VCR's over the years and the Sony SLV-679HF VCR is by far the best I have ever purchased so far.
