| ludwig215's Full Review: Sony Walkman MZ-R90 Personal MiniDisc Player |
I first entered Minidisc technology not knowing much about which product to buy. I ended up buying a Sharp MDMS702. It worked fine but it was really bulky and heavy, especially with the extra battery pack. Then one day I dropped it while rollerblading and got it all scratched up. Some pieces broke and it was time to get a new MD.
Knowing more about the whole Minidisc idea, I found Sony's MZ-R90 player/recorder. All the main features were there, not to mention all the extras. As I did more research I kept coming back to this player. I figured it must be a decent one so I looked at its specs:
Compact, lightweight body with magnesium alloy lid.
Jog lever for convenient control.
Name Bank and Joint Text functions.
Sampling rate converter (for recording from different sampling rates:32/44.1/48 kHz).
Operating instructions: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Finnish, Swedish, Russian (with simplified texts in Japanese, Korean and Chinese).
What I found even better was that I could get mp3's off the internet and put them on minidisc's. (This is possible with a special cord that connects to your computer and the MD itself. This piece runs for about $30)
This player seems to be at the top of its class right now. It is the world's smallest recordable Minidisc player. So small is it that you might even lose it! I highly recommend not to lose it though!! It also ahs the longest battery life for playing and recording. Also, you can transfer CD text onto MD text directly. This way you don't have to hassle with typing in all the letters to the title.
Overall, i recommend this MD to the serious music listener. I guarantee you will have fun with it and use it alot. I have to hand it to Sony for making such an incredible piece of machinery.
