I currently attend school in Burlington, VT. Being in Vermont, I don't get much choice when it comes to many things. Since I live in a dorm, a satellite dish would have been a pain and a lot of trouble so I went with Adelphia's new digital cable service.
I ordered it back at the beginning of the year in September. Adelphia is good with the guaranteed appointments so installation wasn't a problem. I was stoked with the new cable, now I had TV. I also signed on with all the HBOs, Showtimes, and Cinemax channels. My bill is about $66 a month, which is very expensive. The picture quality is fantastic, but I think the technology needed to be tried and tested a little bit better.
The first week saw my new digital cable box burn out. It was promptly replaced and I was given service credit. The second box lasted until the beginning of 2nd semester, when I was informed that there was a new box out which was faster and better. I got the upgrade for free and cable installation part 2 when off without a hitch. The new upgraded box, made by Scientific Atlanta, definitely is faster and sleeker than the one it replaced. Problem is, it took 5 boxes to get me here. Between the 2nd week in January and the middle of March my cable box was replaced 5 times. They kept dying and the cable guy who kept servicing my connection informed me that I wasn't the only one.
So here I am with my 6th box, and it's been working fine. I've been very happy (thank god for a show like the Sopranos, rock on!!) with my cable. The $66 a month hasn't fazed me, but it is a bit pricey. Overall I would recommend this service if you want a lot of channels, great picture and sound, and an alternative to the satellite hassle.
