If you have read my Ford Explorer review you know that I drive a lot. I love my Explorer but it doesn't get the greatest gas mileage. There is nothing better than free gas when you have to use it anyway.
My first "rebate" card was a Discover card that pays 1% back on purchases only when you spend more than $3,000 each year. You get a smaller rebate until you reach that point. It was nice getting a check in the mail but mine was only $25 in 1998. Once I found out about the Shell Mastercard, I was pleasantly surprised that you get 5% on Shell gas purchases and a full 1% on all other purchases. I think I've earned around $200 in free gasoline in the past year! I made about the same amount of purchases as I did with the Discover Card a year earlier so I'm sure you can tell which card has a better program.
I think the best thing about this card is that your statement is credited every month not once a year like the Discover Card or by using gas coupons like the Speedway/SuperAmerica Card.
Shell now has a service called "Easy Pay" which is a card that you attach to you key chain. All you do is hold it up to the pump and it automatically bills the credit card of your choice. You don't have to worry about finding your credit card. I highly recommend it if it is available in your area.
