Ok, ok I will admit to anyone that I am very, very cautious when it comes to spending my mulah. What the heck, I'm cheap and I know it! However, I do like to have products which are good quality. So, I am always striving to get my bargains without sacrificing quality. I have enjoyed using LL Bean products since I was 12 years old because their products are known to be of the very best quality, their customer service is superior to almost any company that is currently existence and they have a 100% Lifetime Warranty. This means that if you one of LL Bean's products and it doesn't serve you as it has been appropriately designed, you can return and get a brand new product at no additional cost. Don't smirk because I have done it a few times. I know LL Bean will always do their best to make their customers happy with their product which makes it a superb company.
That being said, I am not what one would consider brand loyal : I don't only by LL Bean and nothing else. LL Bean is pricey. But, when I buy online, the one thing that I hate the most is paying for shipping and handling. One day I saw this advertisement on the LL Bean site which stated that if you apply for LL Bean/MBNA and were approved, you would get free shipping and free monogramming for all LL Bean products. Also, with sign up, you would get a $20 coupon towards the next LL Bean purchase. I wanted to get my father a new gym bag for his upcoming birthday so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity.As for the rewards I would earn with each purchase, these were a few cents towards an LL Bean gift certificate,3% for LL Bean purchases put on the card. I cannot say that I was really paying attention because I really only wanted the card for my rare spending moments at LL Bean.
Since I rarely use this card, unless there is a promotion, I have not earned many coupons or discounts in the 4 years that I have owned the cards. I have other credit cards which offer cash back bonus rewards. That would be my issue with this card. The only real reward is through getting coupons for LLbean product but the percentage based on purchase is very low and this is not the only car which I use for purchasing products. Usually, once a year, MBNA sends me a promotion in the mail to get me to use the card. This year the promotion was to spend $50 or more with the card and earn a $20 coupon toward LL Bean purchase. So I am looking forward to gettting that in the mail. This will be just in time to getting my mom a coat for the yard work. And the thing I like most about this company(MBNA) is that when they send a promotion they honor it and don't "beat around the bush" as many other credit cards do when it comes time to paying out the reward.
Dealing with MBNA customer service has usually been pleasant and non-confrontational. I am never on hold for more than a few minutes and the representatives do their best to help me if ever I have any questions about their new promotions.I am in the habit of paying my bills the moment I get them in the mail so that I don't even worry about the APR, which is pretty steep.
I would recommend this card to anyone who likes to buy LL Bean products. It is useful to those who don't use this card all the time(as I use it) because you can get FREE Shipping and Monogramming. I don't worry about the coupon dollars so much because a) I don't purchase LL Bean products every year and b)at least once a year, MBNA sends a good promotion in the mail which I can take advantage of.
