I agree with other opinions that Hilton credit card is good hotel reward card. However if you are looking for airlines miles, it's a poor choice.
Yes, Hilton HHonors program allows its points for conversion into airlines miles but the rate is very poor, 5 points to 1.2 miles at best; you get less than 0.5 miles per $ charged with this card.

However, Hilton HHonors allows airlines miles conversion to HHonors points at 1 mile to 2 points. If you have orphan miles in several programs, you can consolidate them into HHonors points.

The card earns 3 points per $ charged. But this card shines when used at participating Hiltons. The earning rate goes to 5 points per $ charged and that's on top of 10 points per $ spent for hotel stays. With 15% HHonors Silver VIP bonus, ones receives 16 HHonors points per $ for Hilton stays!
Hilton card is a good card but for those who want both miles and hotel points, check out AmEx Sheraton credit card. IMHO, Sheraton credit card is better choice (unless you stay at Hilton hotel chains frequently).
PLEASE note that most of reward credit cards (if not all) including Hilton credit card carry HIGH interest rates and cash advance fees. These cards are for those who pay off the balance monthly and are bad choices for those who carry balance. High interest cost over-weights any benefits one would get from these cards.
