AmEx-Starwood promotions can't be beat!

Pros: Great way to get free hotel stays quickly at the best properties
Cons: None, if you pay your bill on time each month
The Bottom Line: Get the card for the free night program, not for the service from AmEx. Charge high ticket items and your stays at Starwood properties and you'll be staying free!

I've been participating in the Starwood program with the AmEx card (formerly the Sheraton card) for 5 years. AmEx offers a promotion about two times a year (it is on now, from May-Sept): stay 5 nights, get 2 fridays free, stay 5 more nights, get 2 saturdays free. I use this promotion each time: I stay at reasonably priced hotels (in the $100 US range). You can even use a 50% off award and STILL have it count as a night toward the free nights! Then I cash in the free nights at the most expensive hotels in New York, Chicago, Madrid, and so on. The combo Gold Preferred Starwood frequent guest + the AmEx Starwood card is wonderful. I log onto the Starwood website every day: great contests, offers, and so on. If you like to travel first class but stay free, this program is for you!
