Stay away from this card!

I had no credit history but Providian decided to "take a chance on me" as they say in their commercial. I was so excited that they kept raising my credit line due to my using the card all the time. I did not know much about credit cards at the time and let us just say that ignorance is NOT bliss!
Here is the major glitch with the Providian Visa Classic: there is no Grace Period. They charge you extra just for using the card. For example, if my bill was $300.00 they would charge an extra $5-10.00 every month just for using it! Plus, I did not like the fact that there was an annual fee of $59.00. Most cards do not even have annual fees! The interest rate is also very high. When I called to cancel they gave me the runaround saying that "The computer system is down right now." They had other excuses as to why I should stay with Providian such as eliminating my annual fee, which I did not believe. Let me just say that I got rid of that card like a bad habit.
I now have an MNBA Visa and have a 30 day grace period as well as NO ANNUAL FEE! It even has a picture of Don Mattingly on it!
My advice would be to stay away from this card and choose a different one or pay in cash. It's cheaper!
