| gbodge's Full Review: USAA Savings Bank |
I decided to get a USAA Master Card after closing another credit card account. So far, the account has been problem free and easy to use.
I have several accounts through USAA, to include checking and savings accounts. USAAs customers typically do not use branches, so the bank is set up to make access through the mail or on line particularly easy. I am able to access the credit card account to check recent activity and account balance on the same accounts web page that has all of my other USAA account information. This makes it very easy to see when purchases and payments are credited and debited to the account. Additionally, payment on line is easy through the same interface, and is immediate when paid with a USAA account on line.
Statements can be delivered directly to the USAA account and checked on line, with an e-mail notice sent when it is available. This keeps customers from waiting for billing statements to arrive in the mail to find out what their payments will be.
USAA also offers a point system with this card that can be used to purchase goods and services, or can be redeemed for cash. Unfortunately, the on line interface to find out the point balance is cumbersome.
One of the major drawbacks of this card is the interest rate. It is higher then most of my other cards, so we do not keep a balance on the account. One of the positives regarding the interest rate and the company in general is that, since they are primarily focused toward military customers, getting rate reductions under the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act is very easy.
Overall, I would recommend this card simply for the convenience and the automatic linkage of it to USAA checking and savings accounts.
