| swetpea's Full Review: U.S. Bancorp |
In 1994, I bought a truck and financed it through a local bank. This bank was bought once, but the payments went to the same place. Then the loans were sold to US Bank. We had been banking there for years before it became US Bank, and had no reason to switch. Little did we know.
I finally got to the point that I needed the amount of the final truck payment. Yippee, was I excited. I call the 800# and was switched twice before someone would talk to me about a final loan payment. I knew basically how much it would be, but wanted an exact amount. He started giving me some run around about insurance and how it hadn't been paid. Excuse me! I had never carried insurance with the loan, I always had regular insurance like you would normally carried on a vehicle. I told him that and he had to go check something. He came back and said he was sorry, but the people that had that information were in Minnesota and I would have to contact them directly. (I live in Oregon.) I called the number and it was not a number for the bank. I called the bank back and no, that was the correct number. This went on for 3 days back and forth. Finally I called the number again and this time spoke to a supervisor. Evidently this poor person had been getting several calls like this and took it upon herself to give me the correct number to the bank.
I finally talked to someone who gave me my last payment and asked when I could expect the title to my truck. Oh, she said, give it 3 weeks or so and you should have it. When I asked why, she explained that my title was in South Dakota and it would take that long for the paperwork to all be processed.
It actually took 5 weeks and several more frustrating phone calls to get this title.
I do still have my checking account there and that's more because of the local service I get (I have never had a local problem at this bank!) than any loyalty to US Bank.
I would NEVER recommend any kind of loan from here though.
