Pros: Low cost
Cons: If they make a billing error, they WILL NOT try to resolve it expeditiously.
The Bottom Line: The price is right, but it will probably go up after the first year, and if they make a billing error, don't expect them to resolve it quickly.

| vegasmommy's Full Review: AIG - American International Group - Auto |
In the beginning, AIG was a lifesaver. After thorough review of competitor pricing, along with advantages, and disadvantages, I went with AIG to get the most bang for my buck. The fact that I was able to set up automatic debit from my checking account was a big plus, and their low quote was an excellent value. I live in Las Vegas, NV which is known for high auto insurance, terrible driving conditions, accidents, and personal injury attorneys on every corner. I have never been involved in an accident that I was at fault for in my life, but I was very surprised when I received a renewal letter stating that my policy would go up in price. There was no reason given for this.
I decided to start looking around for other possible insurance carriers. I was referred to Essurance by my fiancé, and I received a quote for $50.00 a month less. So, I faxed AIG written notice of my intent to cancel at the end of my term 3 1/2 weeks in advance of my policy end. I called to confirm this written confirmation, and I was given confirmation.
Well, 3 weeks later, as I was looking over my on-line bank statement, I noticed that not only was I charged by my new carrier for auto insurance, but I was also charged by AIG for auto insurance that I no longer needed.
I called immediately, and after being transferred to 7 people, I was told that the company did in fact receive my notice to cancel 3 1/2 weeks prior, but that they had made a mistake. I thought fine, no big deal, this can be fixed. Or can it.
I have now been waiting 2 months for a refund check which I was told I would receive 6 weeks ago. I do not like the fact that I have to suffer for their mistake. Hopefully I will receive a check, but so far, I'm still waiting patiently.
If this does not get resolved within the next two weeks, I plan to contact the Better Business Bureau, The Federal Trade Commission, and the State of Nevada Division of Insurance. I will also see if I have time left to dispute this with my bank.
Buyer Beware!!
