I was rear-ended a couple of years ago, and USAA actually called me to see if I wanted to go to a doctor!! Everything about working with this company is a pleasure -- from getting quotes, signing up, cancelling, claims, customer service, etc. They are really a great bunch -- very knowledgeable, which is pretty rare for larger insurance companies. We have two cars insured right now, and this is costing about half of what I was paying on just my car before I got married. We also have renter's and life insurance policies with USAA, and having all of our policies with one company is a relief. I have also recently discovered their website, which is becoming more and more helpful. They are updating it often, so you can get a lot of quotes, statements, and other information. Their payment terms on insurance are great, and very flexible -- you can pay yearly, quarterly, or monthly. You can have this automatically withdrawn from your (USAA) checking account, or just pay by check. After our wreck, USAA was amazingly fast and very fair with paying. The guy who rear-ended us did not have insurance. A lot of insurance companies will withhold payment until they can investigate to make sure the other person didn't have insurance (even if you have un-insured driver coverage). But USAA just wrote us a check, payed for my doctor's visit (my doc said that they had never received payment so fast from an auto insurance co!) and then bothered with the investigation later. If you are eligible, use USAA for everything you possibly can!
