Pros: It's Tekken; Lots of Moves
Cons: Blocky Graphics; Outta Date
The Bottom Line: Try or buy it, but don't pay over $15 for it; it's not worth it, but it is still a great game to play.

| tmc2000's Full Review: Tekken 2 for PlayStation 1 |
What It Is:
Tekken 2 is a 3D fighting game, where many people fight in a tournament. This game has several different fighting modes, including Arcade and VS., and can be played by 1 or 2 people. By playing Arcade mode, and beating all your opponents, you unlock new characters. After completing Arcade mode several times, you will have unlocked most, if not all, the hidden characters.
Ratings:
Graphics - 3/5: At least it's 3D. The graphics are primative, where the body parts are practically carved 3D rectangles, squares and circles. But the backgrounds look good.
Difficulty - 4/5: The controls are like WWF Warzone and Attitude. Press a combination of buttons and you do a move. Unfortunately, some of these combinations are long and hard to do. To do well at doing these long moves, you'll need a lot of practice and quick fingers. Each character must be mastered seperatly. Don't expect to practice with one character and then use another character, and expect this character to be just the same.
Sound - 3/5: This is average. There is nothing special about the sounds. There's the sound of people getting hurt and people getting slammed on the ground, and sounds of people 'psyching up'.
Length of Game - N/A: This game is not with the goal of beating a lot of levels.
Game Life - 4/5: There's plenty to do before you can say 'I've done it all'. There's several characters to unlock, several modes to play and a lot of characters to master. This game also has a Practice mode, which can either put you in a fight against an opponent that doesn't move (it falls over sometimes when you hit it, but it gets straight back up) or, you can face a CPU controlled opponent. Both you and your opponent have infinite life.
Modes and Extras - 3/5: There's nothing too much. Other than Arcade and VS., there's Survival, Time Attack and Practice. As for extras, all there really is, is hidden characters.
Sequals - 2: There are 2 sequals. Tekken 3 and TTT (Tekken Tag Tournament). TTT is for PS2, where Tekken 1, 2 and 3 are designed for the PSX and PSOne.
My Opinion:
This is a great game which has quite a few features. While the excitement and enjoyment of the game is high, the graphics are one of Tekken 2's only flaws. I say: If you like, or would like to try good beat-'em-ups, try this, but if you buy it, I don't recommend paying anything over $15.
