I've had it 6 months and couldn't be more pleased with it.
This washer replaced a KitchenAid Superba machine that was in absolute perfect working condition. Why replace it? Mostly the noise levels are way too high as the kitchen is adjacent to a den. I bought this at Lowes for around $500 including installation. I also bought the extended warranty for an additional $80. It now has a 1 year Bosch warranty and a 5 year Lowes warranty. This was probably 40% less than a newer, quieter Superba would have sold for.
The major criticisms seem to be about apparent long wash cycles, not fully cleaning, moisture left on plastic parts, grit... etc.
First off- you must use a rinsing agent.
Secondly- don't ever interrupt the cycle by opening the door. This dries on an evaporative process rather than a heating element and opening the door interrupts that process. If you have kids that won't listen to you and opens the door anyway- well, maybe this dishwasher isn't for you.
I read the manual and learned how to increase the water temp to 161°. It's really simple. My dishes and plastics come out bone dry. Like polyethylene cutting boards. Very thin and low density plastics maybe won't fully dry because of the evaporative process relies on material density. Metals and ceramics are no problem at all. The positives for not having a coil is that you never melt anything that falls onto the coil at the bottom and you don't waste energy by using "brute force" to dry things. The only moisture I have is on the underside of coffee cups that have a recessed area that captures water. Nothing will dry this out anyway.
I've also heard complaints about the countdown timer doesn't indicate actual minutes. I've timed it and it's not way off. In my case, 110 timer minutes was more like 125 actual minutes. It doesn't really matter- after all, you just want an indication of how soon the dishes will be done and if the cycle has been completed.
I do have a gripe that the racks don't seem to hold as much as my KitchenAid did. But the tub is much deeper, so it fits bigger pots and pans that used to be hand cleaned.
This model is near the bottom of the Bosch lineup and has only a few wash settings. This does not bother me as I use the same setting for everything and it works great.
One final comment- strangely enough, the filter never seems to be soiled. I've looked at it several times and there is virtually nothing in it in a six month period. I may have found a sliver of an onion in there but that is it. And I never prewash dishes.
