You Gave Up a Spirit 500 for this? (Reply to this comment)
by dadeo7432
I hear that Weber moved its production of the small grills to Mexico and China, and you could have gotten your Spirit working again and instead you bought this? As nice as the new ones are, they aren't as durable as the old cast aluminum firebox units with heavy steel carts... oh well the new one is nice.

Changing my mind about grilling! (Reply to this comment)
by kigle
This rave review for a Weber grill is about to change my mind about grilling! I have never enjoyed cooking meat and have not been good with a grill (although I love to eat the results of other people's efforts!). We have a built in gas grill and I am almost sorry. But this was great to read, since we are thinking of buying a Weber as a gift for family members. Thanks for a good review that hit on a lot of features of interest.

So Glad I Found You (Reply to this comment)

I'm the chicken dance can opener person and found you when you left your comment. Thanks. If this is a representative sample of your opinions, I will be a steady reader.

By the way, we just love our Weber Genesis. We have had it for so long I forget when we bought it, but the cookbook is fantastic. It lists the burner heat needed and the time to cook. It works every time. And my husband does all the grilling. :-)

Thirty minutes??? (Reply to this comment)

I would've ended up calling out for pizza many hours later. My accolades . . . and envy. I'm planning to buy a gas grill this summer and, after reading your review, it will definitely be a Weber.

Despite... (Reply to this comment)

...all of the other great information in this review, I am most impressed with the quick assembly! Thermos grills should take a lesson in assembly instructions from Weber. I put together my Thermos Grill last summer and it took over 3 hours. Directions were incorrect and pieces were both missing and broken. Yikes. Glad you had a good experienced.

Maybe I'll Rethink Gas Grills (Reply to this comment)
by thedragonweyr
I have never been a big fan of gas grills - spending a year with nothing else to cook on while our home was being built was effective immunization! However, your excellent review has me thinking that, just perhaps, it is time to try again, with a Weber, of course! I always liked the quality of our Weber smoker and many a turkey, chicken, salmon, lego lamb, hard-cooked egg, chunk of cheese, eggplant, etc. met its savory smoke-annointed fate atop the grill of our trusty Weber kettle. So, maybe it is time for a field trip to Lowes' gas grill department. Thanks, Helen, for informatively entertaining me this AM.

P.S. Sorry you did not get to Joe's. Stone crabs are on my short list of things I miss about south Florida!

Great review, and as always, very entertaining and informative. We will be looking for a new BBQ this summer, I believe I'll be checking into the two models that you have mentioned, thank you.

On a Saint Patrick's Day when it's snowing in Boston, it made me think of summer & grilling outdoors. This is a great grill to think about getting. :-) -- Carole

Assembly Required (Reply to this comment)

Am I the only one who always unknowingly loses that crucial screw or bolt under the coach (where I later find it)? Thirty minutes? You should submit that to Guinness (the record book, not the beer--though today would be a good day for Irish patriotism as well).
As always, a thorough, detailed, and entertaining review.
