| Momstime's Full Review: KitchenAid KT2651X Epicurean 475 Watts Stand Mixer |
Okay, I just HAD to have a kitchen aid mixer!!!! After burning out my Sunbeam stand mixer and countless other hand mixers over the last 13 years I just knew it was time for something of quality and horsepower. I set my sights on Kitchen Aid knowing that my mother still has her original mixer going strong after 30+ years. But the question remained, which one? After searching and searching, I finally decided on the Epicurean 6 qt because I loved the idea of the larger bowl, and because I got a heck of a deal on it at Kohl's. I was able to buy the better mixer for the same price as the next lower mixer in the line. If you could pass on a deal like that, you are a stronger person than I am. Anyway, upon using it for the very first time (making banana nut bread)the mixer gave out a terrible screech in the 6th speed setting. The motor seemed to go from really loud to barely making a sound and then back again, while it didn't seem to affect the actual spinning of the paddle. Still, that definitely wasn't right. Back into the box it went to Kohl's for an exchange. There is an unwritten law that states, If ever there is a chance of a lemon being on a shelf, in any given store, MOMSTIME will buy it. I was willing to take another chance on this mixer. I asked the clerk to say a blessing over the new box...and perhaps a chant just to be safe. LOL My second mixer worked like a charm.
I was concerned at first that the whisk wasn't reaching all the way to the bottom of the bowl, but I quickly learned that it was FULLY adjustable and easy to fix.
The one thing you will need to have when purchasing this mixer is the counter space to store it. You will not want to have to pull this thing out when you want to use it. Believe me, if you have to go get it, you most likely will never use it. If you have it at arm's reach, you will use it ALL the time. I was lucky to get the slicer/shredder attachment with mine. It works basically like one of those salad shooters. I like having one appliance that does everything. I wish I could have all the attachments, but GOSH they are expensive.
Overall, I am very happy...okay THRILLED with my mixer. I have only had it a few months, so I may be adding to this review at a later date. I hope it will still be a positive review.
