After burning out many hand mixers, I finally decided to buy what I really wanted, a KitchenAid stand mixer. My Grandmother had one of these and my Aunt still uses it.
I bought it in white because I expect to have it for a very long time and don't want to worry about it matching the latest decorating craze. the colors were tempting though.
It looks great on the counter and performs like a dream. I did have to adjust the mixing times on some of my recipes because it is so powerful.
The large capacity makes it perfect for anything I want to make and it handles small batches as well. The only thing I miss is the tilting head, which the older models had and the less powerful ones still have. In certain cases it can be a bit awkward to add ingredients from another bowl to the mixing bowl, unless you use the pouring shield feature.
I am planning to buy several attachments for it and get rid of my meat grinder, roto shredder and pasta machine. The bread machine is going too, it takes up too much space and the loaves are too small.
The warranty is great, no hassle, just an 800 number to call, but I doubt I'll need it because this mixer is really well made.
The price seemed reasonable to me, $349.97 because I could have bought several of them for what I have spent on cheap mixers over the years.
It comes with a wire whisk beater, a flat beater, a dough hook and a pouring shield. A multitude of attachments accessories are available for it.
It is everything I expected and more. Cleaning it is a breeze. The beaters are much easier to clean because of their size than the small beaters on hand mixers.
