I love this player in that it records FM radio. I don't get my favorite morning radio show at my desk in work, so I set this baby on record and at lunchtime I grab it from my car and listen to it for the rest of the day.
This is great for a dedicated fan like myself, but there are 2 huge problems with this recorder, both of which are encountered every day. The first is that it chews up battery life, the second is that the battery compartment door latch is a tiny thin piece of plastic that has already broken.
In taping my show I can usually count on over 2 quality hours. the trouble is when I retrieve the player the battery is already dead. Time to switch. That's not all, though. It also sucks down a whole battery in the time it takes to transfer the file to my PC. So-long 2 batteries a day. For me it is worth it, but I can see this thing ending up in a drawer if I didn't have near unlimited access to cheap batteries.
Please note, also, that I tries several brands of rechargeable batteries and none of them worked in the player.
Other than that, the sound quality is fine, the computer interface is simple, and the player interface is OK once you get used to it.
All in all, I recommend that you get the newer version which has a rechargeable battery if you want to save a lot of money, or else if you don't want to tape FM radio skip this hog all together.
