Cons: Requires constant thorough cleaning. After a few months, it starts to have various failures.
The Bottom Line:
At first it was a great vacuum but after a few months of different problems, I do not feel it is a rugged long-lasting product, and requires constant cleaning.
jabba2000's Full Review: iRobot Roomba 535 Bagless Robotic Vacuum
I've had this Roomba for about 6 months. I would say this review would apply to any of the 500 series of Roombas. At first, the vacuum (I hesitate to call it a robot) was fun to watch and did a surprisingly good job at vacuuming the floors. However as time marched on, problems arose. It started having "jerkey" motions when turning. The battery life decreased such that it could not complete a two room job. Both the main brushes underneath and the side brush needed replacement. I must commend the customer service department who sent me replacement brush sets to fix those problems, but the fix I fear is temporary as they will just fail again in another six months, then it will be out of warranty. Also you MUST clean the hair and gunk out of the brushes after each job; stuff winds around the edges of the brush so tightly, the first time I wondered if this was a felt washer, no it was just dirt and hair wound up so tight. Most of you are used to never turning a regular vacuum upside down and cleaning underneath it; this is mandatory after each run of this vacuum. Takes an hour to clean a room that you can do in 5 minutes (on the other hand, it can do that while you are out doing other things, if you don't sit and watch it, which I do!).
