Pros: Recline feature, excellent support for baby, price
Cons: no basket
The Bottom Line: This stroller kills the $20 umbrella strollers. The recline feature, the sunshade, and the stays in the seat and seatback all provide more comfort for the baby.
JewelyaM's Full Review: Kolcraft Reclining Umbrella Stroller
I bought this stroller for two reasons: it has the recline feature, and it was cheap! It has exceeded my expectations, so much so that we bought a second one to leave at my daughter's babysitter's house.
I like that even though it's an umbrella stroller, it has stays in the seat and the seatback, so it's more like a normal stroller than a sling or hammock. It's great that it has the flip-over sunshade, especially since we sometimes get sudden rain showers here! And the recline feature is excellent, easy to use, and adjustable even with a sleeping baby.
The seatbelt adjusts pretty easily but my daughter can't yet open the buckle, surprising since she can undo the ones on a grocery cart.
My husband bent the locking release because he didn't understand how it worked (he thought you had to push the little red lever toward the front of the stroller instead of to the left). We bent it back and it's continued to work just fine. It was worth it to read the manual on this point though because it wasn't obvious.
I don't mind the little wheels (which someone else complained about) though they're not ideal for gravel or mud. Let's face it, you're going to use this stroller on your sidewalk or at the mall most of the time anyway. Muddy situations call for the baby backpack or a Baby Bjorn. We haven't taken it to an airport yet, because we've always used the Baby Bjorn on our three plane trips (Europe, Maine, and Salt Lake City from Seattle), but I think it would survive airline treatment as well as any umbrella-type stroller. I would probably put a bungee cord around it though, as sometimes the little catch that holds the stroller shut comes undone in my car trunk.
My only beef with this stroller is that it has absolutely no built-in storage. We bought a $6 mesh bag that attaches to the stroller's handles, and that's worked out great. Considering the price of this stroller (I paid $32 in an on-line sale) that was not a big drawback.
My sister bought one of these strollers and used it in her house when her baby was tiny; apparently, nothing soothed her little girl better than the reclined stroller ride! Whatever it takes!
