| michellebaril's Full Review: Bear in the Big Blue House |
I would like to start by saying that I have written a similar review before but that one has disappeared. The review has been gone for sometime now, but if where to reappear I will promptly delete one. That review only had four hits so I do not think there will be a problem with posting this again.
Bear in the Big Blue House is one of my children's favorite shows. Bear always meets your toddler at the door and welcomes them into his house. In every episode bear sniffs the screen and asks, "What's that smell?"
Then always says something very descriptive like fresh cut grass or "mapley syrup" or blueberry pancakes. Then bear always says, "Oh it is you, do you always smell this good?" and the show begins.
In my opinions I am going to describe the characters that bring the Big Blue House to life. I will begin with the House itself and then explain Bear, Ojo, Pip and Pop, Trello, Tutter, Shadow, and Luna. These are only the main characters there are many more such as Ray (the sun) that pay visits from time to time.
THE BIG BLUE HOUSE
The House consists the attic, Bear's bedroom, a bathroom, the kitchen and the den. Through out the show the children visit each room and visits activities in them. Your children will sing, dance, and play games.
BEAR
The owner of the house. Bear is a huge orange bear. He is very nice and takes care of his friends. The main thing that I like about him is he talks to your toddler, asking them a question or just giving them a compliment. I love the way my children interact with Bear.
OJO
Ojo is a baby bear. She is a rust color. She is whiny and rude and does not like to share. In my opinion she is a spoiled sport. I think she is only supposed to be acting like a toddler. In one episode she got a book for a gift and did not want any one to look at it until she was finished. Bear solved the problem like he always does. In my opinion, even though Ojo is rude she does have a very active imagination.
PIP AND POP
Pip and Pop are twin otters and my favorite of all the characters. They are happy and carefree and want to be just alike in everything that they do. In one eposide they where upset because they did not agree on something. They took the problem straight to Bear where he explained that it is okay to be different. Oh yeah, the LOVE claims!
TREELO
A beautiful green lemur with blue eyes. The only thing that I do not like about him is that he is hard to understand. Sometimes I catch what he says, but usually not. Bear always does, though. He is always playful, cheery, and very happy!
TUTTER
Tutter is a chubby, blue mouse. He is on the show to prove to the children that it does not matter how small that you are you can accomplish anything that you set your mind to. He is very determined to do things on his own, but sometimes asks for Bear's help.
SHADOW
Shadow is a shadow. She visits bear every day to tell him a short story. The characters in her stories are always shadow's too. She tells nursery rhymes with her own twist.
LUNA
Luna is the moon. I think that she would have to be Bear's best friend. Bear always goes to the attic to tell her how his day went and to sing the Good-bye Song with her. She is very wise and the one who helps Bear with his problems.
WHAT DOES THE SHOW TEACH?
The show teaches so many things. The shows my son enjoyed the most where the ones on sounds, sharing, personal hygiene, and friendship and colors.
He loves the original shows, dancing (the Bear Cha-Cha-Cha), and the games he plays with Bear. I am sure your little one will like it, too!
