Number one. Digimon is absolutely nothing like Pokemon. Period. Anyone who says it is obviously knows nothing about either show.
Digimon is about several kids who, with the help of thier companions, the Digimon, have to fight to save the world. But it goes much deeper than your standard "fighting evil" plot. Important issues like divorce, broken homes, illness, death, love, friendship, career goals, and more are explored. The kids don't just save the world; they must learn about themselves and grow in the process. This show can teach many good social and moral lessons about trust, loyalty, and hard work. And of course everyone loves to see the battles and the "cool-looking" Digimon. The characters are very multi-dimensional. I suppose this is why many parents complain that they don't "get" Digimon. Digimon is far from a simple show. You can't watch episodes in random order; there is a continuing plot line that is built on in each installment. You'll have to watch for quite a while to grasp all the complexities. But once you get into it, Digimon can be an excellent, interesting show for all ages, not just the young ones.
