Once Fox sees that a show is successful, its only choice is to make a cheap replica. What I am wondering, is why it took Fox so long to copy SNL? SNL has been popular for decades, but Mad TV is still quite new. I would have thought that an SNL knock-off would have been right up there with "World's Scariest Police Chases 28".
Everyone can see that the shameless fox has duplicated NBC's SNL. It's what is expected from them. But lucky for Fox, SNL has been losing some of its wit over the last few years. Because of this, Mad TV is my personal preference for Saturday nights. It's better than the present SNL, but that really isn't saying much.
Although some of Mad TV's skits are lust plain stupid, some are actually quite amusing. There are plenty of skits that are just rude and vulgar, but every once in a while there is a "rich jewel in an Ethiop's ear".( I am very sorry for this poor Shakespeare reference, I don't know what I am/was thinking.)
