| kligor's Full Review: New Addams Family |
I have to admit: when I saw this show at first (when I was 10) I kind of liked it (It's a pretty good show for young kids), but then it grew old, and boring, and not as funny anymore. Now, I don't even bother to watch it. Now, I just think that it's really, really, really, annoying.
I read another review, that compares the modern Adams family, to the original, and the review was very good, and I'd love to talk about the original sitcom as well as this one, but I've never seen it (was it before I was born?), and so I won't be able to.
At first when I watched it, I got some laughs once in a while, but then, it started lacking humour. I'd consider it a good show if I could get a laugh at least once in a hundred episodes.
They try to get the viewers to laugh by using cheap tricks like, Fester, who is a huge source of electricity, and wherever he walks something explodes (*sarcastically* yeah, that's really funny).
Anyway, here is a brief summary of the main characters:
Gomez - the father of two hooligans, and the husband of his very weird wife, Morticia. Not to mention that Gomez is crazy himself. He walks around smoking, boxing, and kissing his querida.
Morticia - a very, very strange woman. She is strong, and as pale as a dead person (which is what she tries to look like). It is a bit hard to hear what she is trying to say with her squeaky voice.
Wednesday - She's the one sister you won't want to have. All she thinks about is how to torture her little brother, Pugsley. And she sure loves torturing him.
Pugsley - The poor brother, crash test dummy, and victim of his evil sister, Wednesday. He's the victim, and he definitely likes being one. He takes such abuse, that you can't even imagine.
Fester - He's the crazy bomb freak of the family. Wherever he goes, something explodes. He orders top military weapons, and explosives just for the fun of it. And when something explodes, he starts laughing in a goofy way.
Mama - She is Gomez's bewitched mother. And the recipes she cooks... whoa! After one snack, don't stay far from a toilet (or a hospital).
Lurch - He is the tall, freaky butler of the family. He's just your basic butler, with a little less attitude, and a little more than you expect from a regular butler.
To summarize the whole family, briefly, I can tell you to imagine the most positive family, and take the exact opposite. With the Adams' good is bad, bad is good, and the whole world is upside down.
The good thing that I can say about the show, is that it is a show for young kids. That means there's no nudity, profanity, though there is a whole lot of violence.
I'd recommend this for children under 10 years of age. But don't let that recommendation stop you if you just like the show, and want to watch it. Some children may not even want to watch. Some parents may not want to let their children watch it. Kids see enough violence in their everyday lives. The whole show is basically about violence and torture.
This is a pathetic attempt for a comedy. I don't like the show, and not many people do. It's not funny at all. Who would laugh when people explode, and get tortured? 4 year olds hardly giggle at this show. This show just didn't get my admiration. The show didn't get many peoples' admiration's and that's why I'm not recommending the show.
