| starstraf's Full Review: Hyatt Regency Atlanta |
I was at the Hyatt Regency for a work confrence and overall was pleased.
Before I got there
Researvations were handled thru the convention site and easily changed directly with the hyatt. Their pre-arrival online information gave me directions both via the Marta and for driving. I knew before hand what ammenities were in the room and that I should bring the wireless card for my laptop.
Arrival
Parking was a bit confusing since I had someone dropping me off and they asked if I was checking in so assumed It was my car. They ended up putting the parking charge on my room, but that was cleared up at checkout and they removed the charges. They took my bags down at the parking "motor lobby" and delivered them to my room once I checked in. Checkin was smooth and friendly, and they let me know where conference registration was.
The Room
The room had a strange layout - with almost a foyer half wall diving the restroom and closet from the bed area. There was a dryer and coffee maker, plenty of towels and counter space, a desk, chair with reading lamp, plenty of pillows (three on each bed) and easy to use temperature controls. There was a blacony looking over the city with OVERLAPPING blackout blinds (excellent for late sleeping). My only two complaints were both with the room and are probally more due to me being a princess then the hotel. The carpeting in the room has a rigged texture to it and after a day of walking around convention and/or sight seeing it hurt going barefoot in the room - to the point that I put a blanket down on the floor to step on - So if you have sensative feet bring slippers. Also the towels ranged in quality - I usually had one soft nice town and two older scratchy towels, I expect better from Hyatt.
Staff
There were employees with clearly visible tags to direct me any time I felt I needed to know where to go - everyone from the maintance crew to the cleaning staff knew how to get to a specific room, even the conference events (Where is breakfast for the confrence). Everyone was willing to stop what they were doing to help out a customer.
Convention space
All the convention areas were well marked, I had no problem finding what room to goto. Bathrooms were well maintined and had plenty of stalls even around the all conference (3000+ people) sessions.
Geek factor
Wireless Internet in hotel rooms and lobby. What a wonderful thing! Even after I checked out of the room and had some time to kill before my trip to the airport I got a cup of coffee at the hotel bar and caught up on email.
There is a skyway connection to the Peachtree Center and Marta station so that even though it was raining the day I left I didn't have to go outside to get to the airport.
