Pros: A very modern hotel
Cons: which means cold, unfriendly, and overpriced
The Bottom Line: Too cold, too unfriendly, although rooms are great. Very, very expensive. I just wish i had a bathroom like the one here!

| dacairo's Full Review: Four Seasons New York |
The Four Seasons in New York is in itself, an institution. We stayed here in January 1999 for one night during a winter weekend. Let me just say, if you like thousands of people everywhere and cold and grand places, stay here. If you like elegance, comfort-ness, and personal service, stay elsewhere like the St. Regis, Peninsula, or The Regent. Once you walk into the main lobby, there are hundreds of people walking, talking, and acting snobby everywhere you look. When we checked in, it seemed that we were just another number paying $500 a night. There was no personal or friendly service either by the front desk or the bellboy. When we were heading to our room, the bellboy didn't inform us about any services or amenities of the hotel. He showed us to our room, put our luggage on the bench and waited for me to give him a tip. We thought it was very rude. However, even though the room was basically one color, we liked it alot. It was very chic, clean, and in a way comfortable. Our favorite part was the incredible bathrooms. Beautiful marble with both a soaking tub and glass inclosed shower. The bathroom impressed me a lot. It was the best part of the vacation. Another thing we did not like was that the hotel did not have an indoor pool. We heard they had a jacuzzi, but we weren't going to go all the way there for that. At night, after a great dinner at La Houppa near Madison Avenue, we went to 5757 for drinks. Once again we were very upset. We both had martinis that cost around $15 and weren't even that good. Overall, the hotel lacks good service, a comfortable lobby/restaurant/bar, understated elegance, and most of all a homey feel. The guests seemed to be very uppity and even the staff seemed to have their nose in the air. We did like our room a lot, but other than that it was a waste of money. If you want to stay at a nice hotel in this area, try the St. Regis, Plaza Anthenee, or The Peninsula.
