Pros: Cheap and in the middle of all the action on the strip.
Cons: Needs updating in so many ways
The Bottom Line: Don't go expecting luxury, go for the location.

| protonsmom's Full Review: Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino |
Just got home from 3 nights at the Imperial Palace. I had been in the casino before but this was my first stay there. I also have a weekend booked there in a month but after that I do not think I will stay at the "I.P." again.
Check in was a long wait. I will admit I got there on a Friday afternoon at 3pm which is probably the worst time. Stood in line for over a hour.
As other reviews here have said, the elevators take a very long time and there is not enough of them. The staircase doors are locked so if you try to use the stairs you get stuck going back down. One of our friends walked up 11 floors to get to his room to find the door locked to his floor. We took the stairs to get down to the parking lot from our room one day and also got stuck, the door opened but it set off a alarm. We had no choice since we were stuck in there and there was no sign saying the stairs are for emergencies only!
Our room was a "love tub" room. King size bed with a huge bathtub. The tub is very shallow and does not have jets so it is just a wide bathtub. Mirrors on the ceiling over the tub and bed. Was not expecting that! The a/c is not central so each room has a single noisy a/c unit. Had to sleep with it on, or at least try to sleep. The bed was ok and the room was clean. Lots of room and storage. No coffee machine or anything extra like that and there was wifi available but I did not check to see how much it costs.
We did not use the pool but for a very hot weekend it seemed to close pretty early. I think the pools in Vegas should be open till 10pm! This one closed at 7.
We ate at the buffet the first night and it was really the worst buffet I have ever been to. Cold bland food and the soup tasted like someone poured a salt shaker in it. Maybe as a practical joke, someone did. Once we also ate at their little pastry shop and that was $17 for coffee, water and donuts for 2 people. After those experiences we decided not to try the other food spots there and went to other hotels for meals.
Since it is a older hotel on the strip the casino is smoky and it was warm. Not the worst but just be warned if the smoke gets to you.
All the staff there I dealt with were very friendly. Even though it was a very busy weekend, people were smiling and helpful.
Parking lot is very tight and can be dark in places. Glad I drive a very small car. There was security riding around on bikes in there though.
At 3am on our last night the entire hotel had a fire alarm go off. Took about 15 minutes for it to get shut off and them to inform us it was a false alarm. Probably just someone trying to avoid the slow elevators.
