Thinking of buying a used boat? This magazine is a must have! Soundings' Boats for Sale is the nation's leading marine classified source. And whatever you're looking for will be in here. There are over 9,000 used boat classified ads in every issue. You'll find all sizes and makes of both power and sail boats. Some have pics, some don't. There are ads from all over the country but if proximity is a necessity for you...beside each ad, you'll find what state the boat is currently located in. It's this section that most people buy the magazine for...though this magazine is much more than just classified ads. But I'll tell you about that a little later.
Selling?
Selling a boat? You seriously need to get it listed in Soundings. EVERYBODY I know picks up this magazine when they're going to buy something. According to Soundings, it reaches 256,000 dedicated boaters and more than 400,000 internet boat shoppers each month. That's a lot more exposure than you'll ever get in your local paper. And besides, why limit yourself to the local area? Just recently a friend of mine here in Rhode Island sold a boat to someone that lives in California but wants the boat at his vacation home in Florida.
The cost of advertising? Well, there's a 10 word minimum. And if you advertise for one month, it's $1.75 per word. For two months, it's $3.40 per word. And for 3 months, it's $5.00 per word. Photos cost extra.
Waterfront
Waterfront is Sounding's Real Estate Classified Section for waterfront properties. And I've noticed it covers mostly the East Coast, all the way from New England to Florida. But not much of the West Coast. Also, it features both residential and commercial properties.
Boat Locker
This section is described by Soundings magazine as being the mariner's marketplace for electronics, services, gear, and more. And it is in fact a great resource for finding parts, services, etc.
Cover Stories
As I stated above, Soundings is much more than just classified ads though.
The cover stories are always an interesting read. Recent ones have included:
Boating Within City Limits - Urban Boaters Know They Don't Have to Go Far to Get Away From It All discussed boating in New York City and Baltimore, and the cleanup of Boston Harbor.
Fifty Ways to Spell Fun was full of great suggestions. It included details of chowder cookoffs in Newport and Crab Days in Chesapeake Bay. The article mentioned fleet blessings in various areas. And it also mentioned such things as classic boat shows, races, concerts, and more.
Walkarounds Gain Ground covered 8 of these affordable and versatile boats. The article discussed the new Intrepid 377, Pro-Line 30, BayLiner Trophy, and others.
And more!
Soundings is great for staying informed on current news and events in the boating world.
Everything from new software to help track hurricanes to the America's Cup is discussed. There's always info on new boats coming out. A recent issue had the story of an Annapolis family touring Europe by boat. There was also a story about a Florida sailor who discovered a shipwreck and treasure and his battles with the courts.
And I also like the destination guides. The August 2000 issue featured Plymouth, Massachusetts and Bird-Watching in the Southern Ocean.
It's a magazine that all boating enthusiasts will enjoy.
For more than 40 years, boating enthusiasts have turned to Soundings for monthly regional coverage and national news. From product introductions and e...More at Magazines.com
