Torn_Willows's Full Review: Aurora Gory Alice by Letters To Cleo
Letters To Cleo's second album "Aurora Gory Alice" produced the one and only mega hit the group would have, and still the song did not propel them into the public eye. "Here And Now" was featured on the show Melrose Place, and with the show growing in popularity, many people were exposed to the wonder that is Letters To Cleo. This album also marked the beginning of my love for Letters To Cleo. I bought this album one year after Christmas, and was shocked to realized I had actually heard "Here And Now", but I didn't know where. Once again the light came on in my head while watching Melrose Place, and I realized I could credit the show with getting me interested in a great group.
This album contains 10 awesome songs, both slow and energetic. The combination of both types of song make "Aurora Gory Alice" the perfect cd, neither too boring or too hyperactive. This album also has the song "I See" on it, which was first found on their debut album "Sister". Among my favorite songs on this cd are "Big Star", "Here And Now", and "Step Back". "Here And Now" is the most hyper song on this album, and it contains a chorus that can hardly be understood or sung along with even with the help of the lyrics. Kay's voice just works too fast for any normal person.
"Aurora Gory Alice" is an amazing album, that started the Cleo bug among most fans. Even if you don't enjoy all of Letters To Cleo, this album should have a song that pleases a person with a pop/alternative taste.
