Micheal Jackson has been one of the best Singers in the history of the music in the world! There have been 100 of musicians who were just lucky enough to make a nice song and got major breakthrough in there life but Micheal Jackson is not just some production of Luck. He, i think, is the best vocalist in the whole world and then his compositions, dances, live performances have been a icing on the cake for him!
History is without any doubt is a masterpiece and exactly the thing which we were expecting from a person like him. I never listened to Micheal Jackson before. It was just the song Dangerous which made me feel like "just go and give it a try" so i went and bought history (Apart from the fact it really disturbed my budget..hehe). But it was the perfect thing on which money can be spent!
The Album cover is really impressive with a picture of the best musician of the world's statue standing and with spot lights on him. It is no computer effects or something, its the real statue. He made six statues for this album which were taken to all parts of the world!
The album consists of many songs depicting his future, present and past as he says it on the cover of the album! The hit songs like Bad, Thriller, Dangerous etc are also present but i only want to talk about the new songs!
1.Scream:
Great vocals not only by him but also by Janet Jackson. Its a duet. The song is about the present situation of the world that the Government is sleeping, the police is bad, the crime rate has increased and using of unfair means for there benefits by the High Officals. They are trying to say that all this injustice have made them scream and they might go insane and the best thing is that the vocals delivered by the duo gives a feeling of some helpless people so it gives a wonderful feeling and fills all spots of the song! The music is really nice and the lyrics are teremendous. It lacks the beat but the combination of the two siblings have really worked well, not only in the song but also in the video. Not to forget the best part of the song i.e Micheal's scream during the song ....its great!
2.They Dont Care About Us:
This song is much like Scream when it comes to the theme but the when it comes to music and the beat then it is quite different. Well, you can have two meanings of the song either that the government doesnt take care of the Black people or it doesnt care about the poor people.,. Whatever! The beat is so classic that i think the song revolves around the beat not his vocals. His vocals are quite aggressive in the song and it fulls the needs of the song!
3.Stranger In Moscow:
A song as the name tells is about loneliness. The song is not a typical Micheal Jackson song with his vocals being quite simple and effective but the main thing is the backing vocals by a bunch of a group. The music seems to be quite romantic!
4.Earth Song:
This is the best song of the whole album drawing the picture of pitiful condition of the world in musical lyrics. I can write whole another opinion alone about this song. The song can be divided into three parts. The first part Micheal is expressing himself in quite helpless and sad way, in the second part he gets a bit aggressive with words
"I used to glance..." and then in the third and the last part he becomes emotional and i think the way he sung these words and the way he expressed himself in vocals is BRILLIANT! You really feel guilty after listening to this song!
What a song man!!
5.History:
The song was supposed to be a big hit as being the title song of the album but didnt go up according to the expectations. The vocals here as always are a blast but he has entered some clips of some people talking about special days in the history which brokes the whole tempo of the song and thats the biggest drawback else its a very good song with the enthusiasm he had shown gives his feelings about his older days !
I just talked about the main songs here but there are other too everyone having a special place in the album and having there contribution in the album as well. Other songs are following, rated according to my likings:
a) This Time Around << really good music and composition!
b)Little Susie <<< ah! as usual the vocals
c) Childhood <<< brings tears ... quite a deep song!
d) Tabloid Junkie <<< Too fast!
e) Money <<< Chorus is great!
f) D.M <<< great music but chorus is not effective!
d) 2 Bad <<< to good to be bad!
e) Come together <<< the only song which i Actually hate...no rythem in the song!
