Torn_Willows's Full Review: Street Faerie by Cree Summer
I bought Cree Summer's 1999 debut album "Street Faerie" because I saw that she was going to be performing at Lilith Fair. Knowing that almost every person involved with this marvelous event had great musical talents, I took a chance and was more than amazed by what treasure I had in my possession. Cree Summer is a great new female artist, leaning more towards and alternative/R&B sound instead of a solid R&B. Another thing I noticed about Cree was that Lenny Kravitz was involved in every single song on this album. He either helped write a song, played an instrument, or offered vocals in all of the 13 tracks on this album. If a person can get Lenny's attention so much, how bad can they be? Not bad at all, Cree is an excellent singer with a great tattoo on her back.
As the album begins it starts with a great song called "Revelation Sunshine" which is an awesome song to say the least. After this song comes a 12 song onslaught of great music. A personal favorite of mine is the song "Mean Sleep" in which Cree and Lenny give a great duet performance. Though all the songs on the album are great some more personal favorites of mine are "Angry Boy", and "Deliciously Down" because they are just cool songs.
If a person likes Cree Summer, I would recommend other greats like Macy Gray because both women can't be stuck into the stereotypical R&B/Rap category. Cree Summer's funky new flavor has made her album on of my most played.
