i_hate_myself's Full Review: Slapstick by Slapstick
Riding that tide of third wave ska came the band Slapstick. I had been listening to Less Than Jake for a while when my brother recommended me this local band that had just put out an album. I popped it in and decided to give it a listen.
From the first moment in "There's a Metal Head In The Parking Lot" I was hooked on the band. As soon as I heard the breakdown at the end, I knew I had to own this album. The entire album is consistently face paced, and one of the most energetic albums I have heard. With songs like "My Only Friend" and "What I Learned" the guys that have since gone on to form Tuesday, The Lawrence Arms, The Broadways, The Honor System, Alkaline Trio, and Less Than Jake earned my eternal respect.
Although it's only one disc, it is 27 songs long, and basically a complete discography of what the band has done. Some of the songs, such as "Earth Angel" don't have the greatest production quality, but that just increases the mood album, proving that a few kids in a garage can create some of the greatest music ever released.
