While the music industry is ruled by backing tracks, beautiful girls and pretty boy faces, it makes it difficult for a band that rely on guitars and a blues/rock sound to break through and be heard. The Dandy Warhols are the exact band who can get out there and be heard. This album probably one of the best CD's over the past few years has it all.
Driving guitar riffs with psychedelic sounds over the top are fantastic, but Courtney Taylor's ever changing voice is purely fantastic. Soon to become the coolest man in rock Courtney Taylor has the perfect makings of a rock star, good looks, cool dress sense, fantastic guitar riffs and an amazing voice. IF you have any sought of liking of guitar based rock/blues then this is a must buy.
Through this CD there are many influences, from Lou Reed to Jon Spencer. A mix of songs, it tends to go in three song spurts. The first three join together like they are playing it live. Droning Guitars, over the top of Psychedelic organ and thumping drums. The following three songs remind me very much of a Jon Spencer Blues Explosion sound with a Lou Reed type of voice. From the beautiful sounds of the slide guitar on Country Leaver to the deep husky voice of Courtney Taylor it showed that they had come of age as a band. Next moving into a radio friendly section of the Album from Get Off to Bohemian Like You they write catchy riffs over a quick upbeat drums. If there are any Paul Kelly fans out there, have a listen to the riff on Get Off and the riff from Dumb Things by Paul Kelly and hear the similarities. Finally the Dandy Warhols finish it off with two very classy songs, moving there catchy guitar, Shakin often reminds me of Boys Better off Dandy Warhols Come Down, just the guitar not the rest. A great CD that caters for most tastes.

A few things about The Dandy Warhols, Courtney Taylor used to be a drummer in the bands Beauty Stab and Nero's Rome now his cousin plays the drums in The Dandy Warhols.
Try to get your hands on a version of ACDC 'Hells Bells' that the Dandy Warhols brought out on the extra tracks of the single Bohemian Like You it is fantastic.
Courtney Taylor recently received over 200 votes in The mostbeautifulman.com contest, 4th in the competition, almost 3 times more than Robbie Williams.
