Repertoire (Reply to this comment)
by pvreditor
I'm afraid that Helter Skelter is not in my current repertoire. However, I do play the ones I mentioned, plus All My Loving, PS I Love You, If I Fell and Let It Be (this last one on piano). I've learned and forgotten Rocky Raccoon and Happy Just To Dance With You, among others. Those would be easy to relearn. I have the complete Beatles songbook and could take a stab at almost anything, although Helter Skelter is not a favorite. I've been meaning to learn Across the Universe for ages.
Another good review, of course!

Re: Volume pedal (Reply to this comment)
by brendan2
Well, I'm not too good with the technical aspect of music aside from observations like "uh, that sounds like a guitar", so thanks for the correction.
And yes, we should totally have sung a couple Beatles songs! It would've only been fair to the people who didn't get to go to karaoke. Next time, definitely. How are you at "Helter Skelter"?

Volume pedal (Reply to this comment)
by pvreditor
I almost commented about this in another of your reviews but I'll mention it here. The effects pedal that George used for I Need You, Yes It Is and others is a volume pedal, not a wah-wah pedal. The classic wah-wah sound combines volume with phase distortion, while a volume pedal just controls volume. It gives the guitar a sound somewhat like a pedal steel guitar used in country songs.
Otherwise, what can I say about a great Beatle review from someone who loves the Beatles? Nice! I should have grabbed my guitar and sang a couple Beatle songs with you at the NYC M&G. I do an okay You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, Yesterday and a few others.

Hello (Reply to this comment)
by suzie04
I liked the movie and I had this soundtrack on the old 33 RPM vinyl. Of course, it was the American version with the George Martin instrumentals. It's still strange hearing "Help" without the James Bond theme introducing it. I will have to buy this Cd someday especially because John sang one of the songs for you. :D

Yes, I believe john sang "dizzy Miss Lizzie" especially for me. of course, he didn't write it, but he did pick it out to show his love for me. but I definitely have to disagree with what you said about George. he didn't write a lot of songs, but the ones he did write were some of the Beatles best. how can you go wrong with "Something," "Here Comes the sun," "While my Guitar Gently Weeps," "Taxman," etc.
but omg dat warlus storee maed me scurred cuz i jus saw a walurs in me octopus gardne da oter dae n it was droppin acid n eetin hikory smoekd bakin n shoutin out hare krishna chantz. it was terifyng but i calld out gouranga so it wuz all ok.

Well, i guess there's really no point in me responding to your comment since you already know what my reaction is, being as you're such a maaad profit and all. my heart just about stopped when i read about Mr. Ed. If something had happened to him/me, i wouldn't be able to go on in life. Unless i found Gary sinise working as a busboy or something..
oh, and please tell Tetsu his message moved me to tears. I luv him soo much!

hmmm i was interested to see that you even got a mention in this album, with the "dizzy miss lizzie" (unless you don't like getting called lizzie, if so then i apologise)! good to see that george took his first steps into the scary world of song-writing here. he mightn't have come up with a lot of the best songs of the beatles' career (that was left to lennon/mccartney), but one thing you always get from george is variety, and the unexpected. i like that.
i hope things are going well at university so far! you'll do just fine.

I had a feeling you'd be postin this!! itz a freakin sign! i m a gr8 profit aint i?
Well
I have some bad news. LL went into that liquor store run by the rabid rabbits and tried to hold them up. Of course that ended badly. Right after that, I happened to pass by Shawns abandoned makeout pad. But it wasnt abandoned anymore
the boohbahs had chosen it as their new place to practice break dancing. Then Paul was huddled in a corner clutching the headphones he was wearing, screaming I AM YELLOW!, then proceeded to run away. Soon after, I caught a glimpse of a pimp flying in a heli armed with uzis. These were NOT used uzis, mind you. Everdred popped up and spoke in haiku, but then he disappeared before I could interpret what he was trying to tell me. Then a freakin pink elephant burst in, asking for lemonade. I was forced to fight back with some hardened nacho cheese, but it actually liked it and ate it. I showed it a picture of yo mama and it passed out, just like the moles in your octopus garden. Paul wandered by again, randomly screaming Whats up!! and Yes Im so sweet tonight! and tripped over rocks. Mr. Ed also came to me, begging for help. It seems that damn pollution had gotten to him, and he was having a difficult time breathing. I got my wizard friend who plays the sax to come over and help him, and with some energetic dancing from the tambourine man we were finally able to restore him to full health.
Oh, and Tetsu has a message for you: I know youre scared and worried in these difficult times, and that your whole life seems to be a mess, but remember this: What we have is more important than anything else. Remember the times we shared together. I love you, and knowing that should make you realize that everything is going to be all right.

Hey David,
I'm glad you liked the review, and at least one person is going to miss my Beatles reviews. I think everyone else will breathe a sigh of relief when the Beatles stop clogging the new reviews section. ;)
I was also happy to see that you were singing "Spies like Us" in a comment section. Maybe you can keep the Beatles spirit alive while I am scarce. :)
Thanks so much for commenting!

Ah the Beatles yet again... but then, they are rather brilliant aren't they? It seems I can't escape them lately, i've just been singing McCartney's "Spies Like Us" in Someone's comment section, LOL.
Anyway Liz, another wonderful Beatles review.. I shall miss these while you're being scarce, so don't be too scarce, but good luck in school!
Cheers!
