The Abyss was a story of the many aspects of life in general. There were the elements of nature, the emotions of humans, the logistics of a secret weapon, and the madness of insanity.
One minute your emotions were being wooed by love and the next hatred for the death of innocent individuals are just two of the emotions you will experience. From the emotional standpoint it is a roller coaster of mild to intermediate emotions. The strongest emotion came when one of the divers went down and they thought he was dead when in reality he was still alive.
The special effects in this movie are superb. The lighting and attempting to make it look like it is possible to be underwater and have it split so you could breathe and speak to underwater aliens is just beyond words. If you like special effects this is an excellent example. The oil rig and the subs were of superb quality.
At the end of the movie it is leaving you wondering if it is possible that aliens live in our waters. After all the travesty that UFO's get now-a-days it makes you wonder if there is a good side to the ET's of the world beyond. Aliens are always being portrayed in movies as something evil, but not in this one. This is a must see movie. It is excellent for children to watch.
