Victor Heerman directed the second Marx-movie Animal Crackers (USA 1930) based on George S. Kaufmans and Morrie Ryskinds successful Broadway-play.The brother's are placing a full anarchistic and satirist performance.They manage to destroy society's hypocritical rules and expectations and make fun of burgher's restrained charm.
The movie is set in a mansion in Long Island , where Mrs.Rittenhouse is organizing a "higher class" party.For her honorary guest's arrive as an a hunter captain Spaulding (Groucho Marx) , concert pianist (Chico Marx) and blond's chasing professor (Harpo Marx).Of course they are all cheater's.The best seen in the movie is the completely hilarous card playing-seen.
The Marx-brother's have free hand's in this movie as well as in for example Duck Soup.Later in Marx-movies there are those necessary singing Hollywood couple's so enjoy the old Marx-movies while you still can.
